# Identity verification

> When MagicMarkets asks you to verify, what you need, how review works, and what happens if you decline.

You can sign up, deposit and trade before you verify your identity. MagicMarkets asks you to verify when your lifetime deposits reach 10,000 USDT.

## When it is asked for

Without verification, you can trade with up to **10,000 USDT** of lifetime deposits. The deposit screen shows how much of that limit remains.

When your lifetime deposits pass 10,000 USDT, any amount above the limit is held until you verify or withdraw it. From that point you have 30 days to verify, or to withdraw the held amount. After 30 days without either, trading stops. The account can then only withdraw until you complete verification. Verification can also be requested outside that trigger, for example where a licensing obligation or a risk check applies to your account specifically.

## What you need

The verification screen lists what it needs. Usually that is:

* A government-issued photo identity document, valid and not expired.
* A document proving your address, if asked.
* A device with a camera, for the liveness check.

A third-party verification provider runs the check. You complete it inside MagicMarkets.

## Review

A document that is hard to read, or a name that does not match your account details, goes to manual review, which takes longer. While a check is in review, the deposit screen says so, and your limit lifts once the check is approved.

The usual causes of a failed check are avoidable:

* A photograph with glare, a cropped edge, or a finger over the document.
* An expired document.
* A name on the document that differs from the name on the account.
* An address document that is too old.

## If you decline

You are not forced to verify. If you decline, your account becomes inactive. Your funds remain yours, and you can still withdraw them.

## Privacy

Documents go to the verification provider for the purpose of the check. What is retained, and for how long, is governed by the [Privacy Policy](https://magicmarkets.com/privacy-policy).
