Sports

Markets are priced across the sports below. Sports are added over time. To ask for one that is missing, use Request a sport in the app’s sport menu. Football carries the most markets. Politics and specials markets are also live.

Period markets

Several sports are priced on periods as well as on the full event, and each period is its own market with its own book. Football carries first half, second half, extra time, corners and cards. Basketball carries halves and all four quarters. A first-half market settles at half time. It does not wait for the final whistle.

Market types

What is available depends on the sport. Football carries the widest set:
  • Match result, and double chance
  • Asian handicap, and Asian over or under (goal lines)
  • Total goals, over or under, exact total, and totals between two values
  • Both teams to score, result combined with both teams to score, and result combined with over or under
  • Correct score, half-time or full-time, win to nil, win margin
  • Odd or even, team to score, to qualify, draw no bet
Basketball, tennis, American football and cricket carry a narrower set. The market explainers list moneyline, Asian handicap and an over or under total for each, plus odd or even on basketball and tennis, correct score on tennis, and match result on cricket. Outright competitions carry winner and top-or-place markets. Each market has its own explainer with a worked example at magicmarkets.com/learn.

Handicap lines

Handicaps always refer to the home team. A line of -1.0 means the home team starts a goal behind for settlement purposes. Asian handicap lines run in quarter-goal steps, which lets a trade be part won and part refunded. If you are working with the API, Asian handicap lines travel as integers equal to four times the real line. A line of 1.75 is sent as 7, and -1.0 as -4. See Sports and bet types.

Where the depth is

In-play carries most of the volume. The single order book carries liquidity from more than 25 providers, so it holds its depth better once a match is running, when a book with one source tends to thin out.
