How it differs from a sportsbook
A sportsbook sets a price, takes the other side of your bet, and profits when you lose. Its incentive is to limit anyone who wins. An exchange matches you against someone who wants the opposite side. Winning accounts are not limited or restricted for winning.Where the prices come from
MagicMarkets aggregates liquidity from more than 25 venues and presents it alongside orders from other MagicMarkets traders as one order book. The practical effect is depth. Liquidity is available before the match and in-play, with different providers filling the gaps. A single-venue book cannot do that. See How the exchange works. What you can do
- Buy an outcome. You win if it happens.
- Sell an outcome. You take the other side and win if it does not happen.
- Combine 2 to 10 legs into one position, called a combo. Every leg must win.
What it is not
- Not a sportsbook. You never trade against the house.
- Not a market maker. MagicMarkets aggregates prices rather than setting them against you.
- Not fee-bearing at the point of trade.
